White County is located in northwestern Indiana, bordered on the north by Jasper and Pulaski counties, to the east by Carroll and Cass counties, to the south by Tippecanoe County, and to the west by Benton County.
It has an area of 505 square miles and during the 2000 Census had 25,267 residents.
Monticello (2000 Census population of 5,723) is both the largest city in White County and the County Seat.
Other cities and towns include Monon (1,733), Brookston (1,717), Wolcott (989), Reynolds (547), Chalmers (513), and Burnettsville (373).
The county was named for Colonel Isaac White, who died at the Battle of Tippecanoe.
