Miami County is located in north central Indiana, bordered on the north by Fulton County, to the east by Wabash County, to the southeast by Grant County, to the south by Howard County, and to the west by Cass County.
It has an area of 376 square miles and during the 2000 Census had 36,082 residents.
Peru (2000 Census population of 12,994) is both the largest city in Miami County and the County Seat.
Other cities and towns include Converse (1,137), Bunker Hill (987), Mexico (984), Denver (541), Amboy (360), and Macy (248).
The county was named for the Miami Tribe.
Notable natives include composer Cole Porter and comedian Ole Olsen.
