Lagrange County is located in northeastern Indiana, bordered on the north by Michigan, to the east by Steuben County, to the south by Noble County, and to the west by Elkhart County.
It has an area of 380 square miles and during the 2000 Census had 34,909 residents.
Lagrange (2000 Census population of 2,919) is both the largest city in Lagrange County and the County Seat.
Other cities and towns include Topeka (1,159) and Shipshewana (536).
The county was named for the summer home of the Marquis de Lafayette, a Revolutionary War hero.
