    Counties: Henry County Indiana


Henry County is located in eastern Indiana, bordered on the north by Delaware County, to the northeast by Randolph County, to the east by Wayne County, to the south by Fayette and Rush counties, and to the west by Hancock and Madison counties.

It has an area of 393 square miles and during the 2000 Census had 48,508 residents.

New Castle (2000 Census population of 17,780) is both the largest city in Henry County and the County Seat.

Other cities and towns include Middletown (2,488), Knightstown (2,148), Spiceland (807), Shirley (806), Kennard (455), Lewisville (395), and Mooreland (393).

The county was named for Patrick Henry, Revolutionary War hero.

Notable natives include aviation pioneer Wilbur Wright (born near Millville in 1867) and historian Charles Austin Beard.
