Dearborn County is located in southeastern Indiana, bordered on the north by Franklin County, to the east by Kentucky and Ohio, to the south by Ohio County, and to the west by Ripley County.

It has an area of 305 square miles and during the 2000 Census had 46,109 residents.

Bright (2000 Census population of 5,405) is the largest city in Dearborn County; Lawrenceburg (4,685) is the County Seat.

Other cities and towns include Greendale (4,296), Aurora (3,965), Dillsboro (1,436), Moores Hill (635), St. Leon (387), and West Harrison (284).

The county was named for General Henry Dearborn, Secretary of War under Thomas Jefferson.

Notable natives include Albert Porter and Winfield Durbin, the 19th and 25th Governors of Indiana, respectively.
