Clinton County is located in central Indiana, bordered on the north by Carroll County, to the northeast by Howard County, to the east by Hamilton and Tipton counties, to the south by Boone County, to the southwest by Montgomery County, and to the west by Tippecanoe County.
It has an area of 405 square miles and during the 2000 Census had 33,866 residents.
Frankfort (2000 Census population of 16,662) is both the largest city in Clinton County and the County Seat.
Other cities and towns include Rossville (1,513), Mulberry (1,387), Colfax (768), Kirklin (766), and Michigantown (406).
The county was named for DeWitt Clinton, Governor of New York.
Notable natives include the actor Will Geer, best known for playing Grandpa on The Waltons.
